Rules for SD divers and boaters

According to research done by Tom Holtey of :

For Divers in South Dakota

8″ x 10″ diver down flag required. Divers to stay within 75′: “Divers shall perform the activity within an imaginary cylinder extending downward from an imaginary circle formed on the surface of the body of water by revolving a 75′ radius 360 degrees about a point marked by the flag.”

For Boaters in South Dakota

Other boaters must keep distance of 75′: “No watercraft under power w/ an internal combustion engine may be operated within the surface area as described … above (75′) nor may any water-skiing … or other surface activity potentially dangerous to the diver be performed in the area described by the circle, except when the craft or activity are a part of … the diving activity.”
